What I do

Streatham is where I grew up, and is a vibrant, diverse, and growing community. It is tied together by Streatham High Road, an important business hub and Europe’s longest High Street. Streatham has benefited from its diversity with a growing cultural scene including film, food, and arts festivals supported by the inStreatham business improvement district.

It was great to speak with my constituent Julia this afternoon about how we can improve legislation to prevent workplace sexual harassment and the This Is Not Working campaign.

Great to visit Henry Cavendish this afternoon to talk to the School Council, Eco Team and Rights Respecting Ambassadors. Lots of great questions about politics and the environment!

I have written to the Secretary of State for Health asking what his department are doing to ensure we eliminate new HIV transmissions by 2030.

The Independent Group and I tabled an amendment to May’s deal that would provide for indicative votes in Parliament on Brexit options, and an extension to Article 50 long enough to hold a People’s Vote.

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the wonderful High Trees Community Development Trust in Parliament. Here’s to another 20 years of great community services and support!

Pleased to add my name to my neighbour Dr Rosena Allin-Khan’s excellent cross-party letter to the Chancellor demanding more police funding ahead of the Spring Statement.

Fantastic discussion with the School Council and Eco Council at Dunraven Primary School, covering knife crime, Brexit, and social media.

Lovely to talk to Caroline from the Happy Baby Community charity, which provides classes, counselling, resources, and care for heavily pregnant women and recent mothers living in emergency accommodation.

It was great to see so many active and engaged young people in Parliament who are demanding their say on the Brexit process!

The Independent Group of MPs as well as the Lib Dems, Plaid Cymru and the SNP have tabled an amendment demanding a People’s Vote on May’s deal.

I have written for Heart Streatham magazine, currently celebrating its 5th birthday, about my resignation from the Labour Party. My first priority is my constituents.

Lovely to be back at the Streatham Youth & Community Trust this morning, admiring the work they’ve done for local children through the ages from their photo wall.
