What I do

Streatham

Streatham is where I grew up, and is a vibrant, diverse, and growing community. It is tied together by Streatham High Road, an important business hub and Europe’s longest High Street. Streatham has benefited from its diversity with a growing cultural scene including film, food, and arts festivals supported by the inStreatham business improvement district.

I will be adding my name to this important amendment to the EU (Withdrawal) Bill which will help pave the way for a Peoples Vote with the option to remain.

APPG EU Relations - Amendment to the Finance Bill

Anna Soubry MP and I have tabled this amendment to the Finance Bill to force the Government to publish an economic impact assessment of their proposed agreement compared to the deal already have.

EDM 1726 Saudi Arabia

I have signed this Early Day Motion (EDM) condemning Saudi Arabia’s violations of international humanitarian law in Yemen, and calling for the end of British arms sales to the country immediately.

Remembrance Sunday

Huge turnout at our Remembrance Sunday Service. I laid a wreath, along with over 60 community organisations, in honour of those who fought and died so we could be free.

Spires

‪It was a pleasure to catch up with the team at Spires. They do a very important job helping people struggling with issues such as homelessness, insecure housing, mental health and poverty in Lambeth. ‬

House of Commons - Black Cultural Achieves

At PMQs I raised the problems facing the Black Cultural Archives – the only national heritage centre dedicated to preserving the histories of black people in our country – and called for the Government to provide the funding it desperately needs.

Brickwood

Enjoying coffee, banana bread and a catch-up with Jayke and Leonie at Brickwood Streatham – a great local business and credit to the High Road!

EDM 1741 Universal Credit

I’ve signed Caroline Lucas’s Early Day Motion 1741 (EDM) which condemns the cruel treatment of those on Universal Credit, and calling for intervention to protect those with disabled children who are affected.

People's Vote rally

Proud to speak at the People’s Vote rally in Parliament Square today. Nobody voted for this mess and now we know the facts about Brexit we need a People’s Vote on the deal.

The Mere Scribbler

Visiting The Mere Scribbler, a great local business that is hosting an art exhibit as part of the wonderful Streatham Festival.

Bishop Thomas Grant Sixth Form

It was a pleasure to talk to Politics and History students at Bishop Thomas Grant Sixth Form this morning. Lots of concern about the direction the Government is taking us in on Brexit.
