What I do

Clapham

The Streatham constituency contains the eastern side of Clapham across to the Common itself, including Clapham Park Estate, Lambeth Academy, and Thornton.

Clapham is a vibrant community and has undergone significant regeneration and investment in housing and on the high street in recent years. The Common remains a popular destination for tourists and locals.

House of Commons - Women in Parliament

Looking round this great “Voice & Vote: Women’s Place in Parliament” exhibition in Westminster Hall that highlights the campaign for votes for women. We’ve come a long way but there is a lot more still to do.

House of Commons - Extend the Living Wage

I’m supporting Holly Lynch MP’s bill to extend the Living Wage to young people. Your wage shouldn’t be based on your age!

Today I asked the Prime Minister whether she would commit to introducing a scheme to help families move between social housing providers to protect teenagers against youth violence.

People's Vote campaigning in Clapham

I’ve been out in Clapham this afternoon telling people about People’s Vote and our big march tomorrow. Make sure you join the campaign to give the people a say on the final Brexit deal!

APPG Social Integration - Manchester visit

There’s a huge amount going on in Manchester! It was great to visit Andy Burnham and his team today to talk about social integration.

EDM - 1440 Implementation of £2 stake on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals

Pleased to sign this Early Day Motion (EDM) in support of cutting the stake on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals to £2. This will greatly improve the lives of problem and at-risk gamblers and their families.

I spoke in support of the UK remaining in the Customs Union and the European Economic Area after Brexit in order to protect UK businesses and jobs.

House of Commons - EU Withdrawal Bill

Waiting for the debate on the EU (Withdrawal) Bill to start. With two thirds of voters now saying that Theresa May is handling Brexit badly it is clear that we need a People’s Vote.

House of Commons - No deal Brexit

In the House of Commons I argued that the Government must not try to take this country out of the EU with no deal without the House of Commons having had its say.

House of Commons - Improving rail services

The Thameslink service from Streatham to London Blackfriars had over 160 trains cancelled over the last week. I asked why the Government has done nothing to improve this rail service.

House of Commons - Electoral Commission investigation into Vote Leave

I argued that we must adopt a public health approach to youth violence to look after the mental health and overall wellbeing of our young people.
