What I do

Clapham

The Streatham constituency contains the eastern side of Clapham across to the Common itself, including Clapham Park Estate, Lambeth Academy, and Thornton.

Clapham is a vibrant community and has undergone significant regeneration and investment in housing and on the high street in recent years. The Common remains a popular destination for tourists and locals.

EDM - 1829 Trophy Hunting

I’ve signed this Early Day Motion (EDM) which condemns the cruel and unjustifiable practice of trophy hunting which poses a huge threat to our global wildlife including species threatened with extinction.

EDM 1726 Saudi Arabia

I have signed this Early Day Motion (EDM) condemning Saudi Arabia’s violations of international humanitarian law in Yemen, and calling for the end of British arms sales to the country immediately.

Remembrance Sunday

Huge turnout at our Remembrance Sunday Service. I laid a wreath, along with over 60 community organisations, in honour of those who fought and died so we could be free.

Spires

‪It was a pleasure to catch up with the team at Spires. They do a very important job helping people struggling with issues such as homelessness, insecure housing, mental health and poverty in Lambeth. ‬

House of Commons - Black Cultural Achieves

At PMQs I raised the problems facing the Black Cultural Archives – the only national heritage centre dedicated to preserving the histories of black people in our country – and called for the Government to provide the funding it desperately needs.

EDM 1741 Universal Credit

I’ve signed Caroline Lucas’s Early Day Motion 1741 (EDM) which condemns the cruel treatment of those on Universal Credit, and calling for intervention to protect those with disabled children who are affected.

Proud to speak at the People’s Vote rally in Parliament Square today. Nobody voted for this mess and now we know the facts about Brexit we need a People’s Vote on the deal.

At the University of Manchester to talk to students about the People’s Vote campaign and why they should support it.

APPG Social Integration - Apples and Honey Nursery

As Chair of the APPG on Social Integration, I visited Apples and Honey Nursery – a Jewish intergenerational nursery – to take part in their Shabbat ceremony and learn about their work bringing different generations together.

EDM - 1629 Publication of parental leave and pay policies

Shockingly 54,000 women lose their jobs each year because of pregnancy and maternity discrimination. I’ve added my name to this Early Day Motion (EDM) that calls on the Government to bring forward legislation to address this issue.

APPG Social Integration - West Midlands visits

As Chair of the APPG on Social Integration I visited the Three Trees Community Centre and the Rainbow Bridge project in the West Midlands to talk about how we can bring different communities together.

Breast Cancer

I’m channelling Bootsy Collins in support of Breast Cancer Now who are raising money to fund lifesaving research. Make sure you take a moment to check out their work.
