What I do

Brixton

The Streatham constituency contains the southern part of Brixton. It has a longstanding reputation as a vibrant cultural and creative hub, and has also seen significant transformation and investment. Windrush Square is named after the Windrush generation – who settled in Brixton after arriving in the UK as it had the labour exchange which was closest to the accommodation provided to migrants in Clapham – and is home of the Black Cultural Archives.

Maytree Children’s Centre

Really enjoyed talking to parents at Maytree Children’s Centre who told me how the children’s centre has literally changed their lives.

House of Commons - EU Withdrawal Bill

Waiting for the debate on the EU (Withdrawal) Bill to start. With two thirds of voters now saying that Theresa May is handling Brexit badly it is clear that we need a People’s Vote.

House of Commons - No deal Brexit

In the House of Commons I argued that the Government must not try to take this country out of the EU with no deal without the House of Commons having had its say.

Trinity Academy

Great to chat to students at Trinity Academy about jobs, housing, youth violence and Brexit.

People's Vote campaigning in Brixton

I had a great time campaigning for a People’s Vote outside Brixton Station this afternoon.

House of Commons - Improving rail services

The Thameslink service from Streatham to London Blackfriars had over 160 trains cancelled over the last week. I asked why the Government has done nothing to improve this rail service.

House of Commons - Electoral Commission investigation into Vote Leave

I argued that we must adopt a public health approach to youth violence to look after the mental health and overall wellbeing of our young people.

Thames Water CEO meeting

I met the Chief Executive of Thames Water to discuss the leaks and water shortages this winter. I will keep pushing for more to be done and for constituents to get the compensation they rightly deserve.

House of Commons - Remaining in the Customs Union and the European Economic Area

During a debate in the House of Commons this afternoon I spoke in favour of the UK remaining in the Customs Union and the European Economic Area and that we should have a People’s Vote on the Brexit deal.
